Design can change the culture of a business and help shape its future strategy. Yet it is all too easy to think of it just in terms of the shaping and styling of products. Crucially, tangible business benefits are created when design is used to connect more closely to customers, to shape internal processes and establish credibility that leads to growth.
This is what the Design Council does through its long-running design support programme: working with small and medium size businesses to show in a highly practical and unambiguous way how design can work for them.
The programme works across different sectors, and businesses are assigned a Design Council Design Associate to work with them. Design Associates are part of a small, highly experienced network of design management specialists who provide hands-on,independent direction and in a practical and engaging way help businesses identify key opportunities where design can add measurable commercial value.
Importantly, Design Associates help to de-risk the whole design process by helping the business identify and scope mission critical projects, translate them into carefully defined briefs and then identify the most appropriate design agencies to deliver them.
