The UK left the EU on 31 January 2020.

There is now a transition period until the end of 2020 while the UK and EU negotiate additional arrangements. The current rules on trade,
travel, and business for the UK and EU will continue to apply during the transition period. New rules will take effect on 1 January 2021. You should prepare now and find out what you, your family, or your business should be doing to be be in the best position come the
end of 2020.

 

How business employers can take action to prepare for new rules from 1 January 2021

While the Government continues to negotiate a free trade agreement with the European Union, there are actions your business can take now to prepare for the end of the transition period that are not dependent on the outcome of the negotiations. You can use the straightforward transition checker tool at gov.uk/transition to identify the specific steps you need to take to be ready on 1 January 2021.
