Talent and Training

People are typically the most precious asset of a business. There are numerous schemes to help business to develop their people skills from training and apprenticeships to knowledge transfer partnerships and working with universities. The Solent has four universities, centres of academic and vocational excellence, high quality private training providers and many colleges equipped to support business demand for a highly skilled local workforce, professional development opportunities and access to world-class research facilities and knowledge.

Skills for Growth

Skills for Growth has been a priority area of work for the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) since its inception. The approach is to better align public and private investment in training and workforce development to growth. This will be achieved by employers taking a lead, signalling how the public sector and business can co-invest most intelligently to maximise opportunities for employers and people. The Solent Employment and Skills Board (ESB), is a dedicated delivery panel of the Solent LEP, bringing together a range of partners to take forward work focused education on the LEP’s Skills agenda.
